 ChinaNext Foundation (CNF) supports and cultivates the young leaders (Next Leaders) of a collection of good non-profit projects in China, selected through a rigorous and competitive process. CNF provides all around support and supervision to the Next Leaders and represent them in the international community. CNF does this to sow the seeds of a reliable civil society in China, and in turn help to create a better future for the world.
 
 Nature Epic, founded by Chuanhui Zhu in 2017, is part of ChinaNext Foundation (CNF), and Chuanhui is one of CNF’s NextLeaders. CNF creates NGO leaders in China, provides continuous mentorship and guidance for them, and propels them to carry out projects which are sustainable, measurably effective, and scalable in the future:
 
 I am Chuanhui, a nature conservationist, writer, educator, and winner of the UNEP Young Champions of the Earth award. As a conservationist, I have seen more and more species on the list of endangered species, Ive seen too many failures in conservation happened all over the world. What is more terrible than extinction is the peoples oblivion.
 
 Like many beautiful things, the story of nature conservancy cannot be passed on to children through blood. But it must be won, guarded, and handed over to our next generation to do the same right thing. So I founded NATURE EPIC*, a public welfare project, based on Andys Adventure, a fairy tale about nature created by me, and extended various forms such as audio stories, picture books, games and childrens plays, to awaken children to the love of nature, from love to care, from care to action, to protect our common home. May the nature always be your guide.
 
 CNF aims to raise $7,500 from 300 donors within three month to launch a program to translate and publish the Andy’s Adventure picture books to English version, and disseminate those books to children who lives in under developed countries.

Providing the best care for underprivileged aboriginal children and elders

The Taitung County Aboriginal Ebenezer Holistic Care and Development Association aims to offer after-school remedial teaching and character education counseling in a flexible and stepwise manner in hopes of providing the best care for underprivileged aboriginal children and elders in Taitung rural areas. Its primary objective is to reinforce family function and values, ultimately forming a complete and linked partnership.
 In the numerous rural areas of Taitung County, young children are often socio-economically and educationally deprived. They grow up in families that parents constantly struggle with financial instability due to low education and alcoholism, which ends in a vicious cycle. Without avenues to vent their frustrations and emotions, they live in despair and hurt. With the advent of Taitung County Aboriginal Ebenezer Holistic Care and Development Association 台灣台東縣原住民以便以謝全人關懷發展協會, these children begin to see it in a new light. With a thirst for love and care, these children bond with staff members instantaneously and return their best efforts in demonstrating academic achievements.
 
 Taitung County Aboriginal Ebenezer Holistic Care and Development Association 台灣台東縣原住民以便以謝全人關懷發展協會 offers after school tutoring, multi-faceted activities, dinners, and spiritual companionship to help those underprivileged children, in an attempt to compensate for the inadequacies of schools and family function. It further provides flexible and gentle teachings and communication styles to form an interconnected partnership with all needy children. Schools work under the stress that they need to structure teaching curricula, and they sometimes might neglect individual learning progress and needs. The association offers boundless assistance for the whole year round. It holds the open door policy for all children who are in needs, just because they can easily divert from life track without proper guidance and care. If they can obtain timely directions and advice in pursuit of their studies, they can avoid many trials and errors, further building up their self-values. Oftentimes, instantaneous understanding and awakening cannot solely depend on one mind inspirational book or a lecture, and it can be achieved through well-planned guidance and companionship. These needy children need support to rebuild their self-confidence and strong faith in believing what they can achieve, if they work hard toward their goals.
 
 Since the establishment of the association for almost a year, the association was basically viewed as an institute that offers after school care and life counseling. In Taiwan, there are many more similar organizations or institutes like ours established in remote rural areas. The association is like a lighthouse that provides limitless warmth and love. Most importantly, those children who come into this lighthouse will be able to enjoy learning and comfort at home without reserve. This vision is commonly shared by all staff and volunteers who work in this association.

Hand in Hand India began in a small way in 2002 to fight bonded child labor in the famed silk industry of Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, India. Today, the organisation has expanded thematically & geographically, transforming millions of underprivileged children & poor families across 14 states of India. HiH India focuses on alleviating poverty and job creation through its integrated five ‘pillar’ programs: Health, Child Labor Elimination through Education, Skill Development (women, youth and farmers), Environment - Solid Waste Management, Natural Resource Management, and lastly, Women Empowerment & Micro finance. We also implement an integrated multi-pillar initiative ‘The Village Uplift Program’ (VUP) designed to create self-reliant and resilient communities. Precious Women (PW) is located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia working to empower women who have been exploited in the sex/entertainment industry. PWs vision is to see these women working in an environment free of exploitation and for all women to be treated with dignity and equality. Programs range from prevention and awareness to healing and empowerment. PW seeks to see holistic healing in their lives by offering empowerment training, counseling and health support, vocational skills training, and safe temporary housing.

Community Development Services (CDS) was founded in 1978 as a family planning service provider complimenting the government’s population control program. From family planning to sexual and reproductive health interventions, to strategies for the poor, CDS continues to work for the rights and protection of sex workers, female and male low skilled migrant workers, youth in the plantation sector, adolescent and secondary school youth, and PLHIV’s and MSMs. As a technical service provider, CDS has engaged at a national and regional level in many consultations advocating fundamentally for the health rights and labor rights of low-skilled female migrant workers who are the most vulnerable in the migration discourse. Over the years, CDS has trained over 200 community-based civil society organizations in Sri Lanka on project related activities. Their mission is to bring together people from all segments of society especially vulnerable, at risk and marginalized population groups to represent and respect social equality into a movement that participates in the belief and practice of human rights, health rights, and integrated social development through national and international cooperation.

Taiwan Tongzhi (LGBTQ+) Hotline Association was founded in 1998 and is now the oldest and the largest LGBTQ+ organization in Taiwan. Hotline is dedicated to achieve equality and provide resources for the LGBTQ+ community through creating public dialogue and gender inclusive sexuality education. Hotline serves tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people and non-LGBTQ+ people each year in its diverse programs focused on eight major divisions: hotline services, gender and sexuality education, support for parents of LGBT children, care for LGBT elders, HIV/AIDS prevention, intimate partner violence, transgender issues, and community initiatives.

 Asia Justice and Rights (AJAR) is a regional non-profit, non-governmental organization working to strengthen accountability and respect for human rights in the Asia-Pacific region. Its work focuses on countries involved in transition from a context of mass human rights violations to democracy. AJAR strives to increase the capacity of local and national actors in the fight against impunity, and to contribute to building cultures based on accountability, justice, and the willingness to learn from the root causes of mass human rights violations. AJAR’s work is carried out across the following four building blocks:
 
 - engaging policy makers and legislators in research, comparative studies, policy papers, and briefs;
 - building social capital by nurturing south-south linkages and maintaining networks at local, national, and international levels;
 - developing the capacity of actors by conducting trainings, workshops, group discussions, exchanges, and internships; and
 - promoting awareness and understanding by producing television series, music concerts, newspaper articles, social media contributions, and exhibitions.
 
 AJAR has country level programs in Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. In addition, it has a regional program encompassing Southeast Asia, parts of Oceania, and broader Asia.

The Canaan Disability Home Fund is dedicated to safeguarding the dignity and respect of the impoverished and the severely disabled. Established in 2008, CDH is a non-profit organization providing long-term care services to severely disabled sufferers living below the poverty line. CDH has been operating at maximum capacity since 2009, providing care to 65 disabled residents. Their mission is to safeguard the dignity and respect of the impoverished and the disabled. Their objective is to provide first-class long-term care for the disabled. Canaan Disability Home provides long-term care for the disabled through social welfare counseling, occupational training, and community service.

Bringing open data to communities in developing Southeast Asia

When Open Development Cambodia (ODC) launched in 2011 it was the first independent open data website in Southeast Asia. The open data movement is based on the simple premise that data collected for public interest should be publicly available without restrictions. Information or data in the public domain should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish.
 
 
 
 The mission of ODC is to make data and objective, politically-neutral information accessible to all people, in both English and the Khmer language – it is critical that data is provided in the local language. We identify topics where the availability of information is more limited and work to bridge those gaps by gathering and collating data from a wide range of sources. All our content is freely available on ODC’s secure online platform in order to enhance the informed decisions of citizens and other stakeholders.
 
 
 
 The information on the ODC platform covers a number of different topics, ranging from social and environmental issues to public services and economic matters. ODC strives to present data through user-friendly and interactive formats, such as digital maps, which allow users to compare multiple map layers of interest to them.
 
 
 
 The platform has an average of over 60,000 unique monthly visitors. In addition to maintaining its website, ODC regularly conducts outreach activities – workshops, hackathons, and visits to rural areas – in order to show people how to access and use the data.
 
 
 
 ODC registered with the Ministry of Interior in Cambodia as a local non-governmental organization in 2015. ODC has grown to become an important resource in Cambodia’s civic tech ecosystem. It is a great model for other developing countries to consider as a way of sharing knowledge with all citizens.
 
 
 
 Support for ODC initiatives has resulted in a considerable amount of new data and knowledge become available, evidence that many individuals and organizations can use to support their development strategies, planning, and programs in Cambodia.

An organization that helps improve Filipino lives with dynamic programs.

As the social development arm of the Ayala group of companies, Ayala Foundation envisions communities where people are creative, productive, self-reliant, and proud to be Filipino. Ayala Foundation helps improve lives through programs in Education, Youth Leadership, Sustainable Livelihood, and Arts and Culture. Their mission is to understand community realities, act as a catalyst for inclusion to bridge community and business aspirations, and build and nurture partnerships with public and private groups to achieve impact, scale, and sustainability for everyone involved. Currently, AFI works on four major areas-education, youth, leadership, sustainable livelihood, and arts & culture.

A shelter working to prevent delinquency and provide social welfare services.

Yongin Green Dream Youth Shelter was established in 2003. This shelter has provided about 1,479 runaway youths with various social welfare services for 15 years. The youth from below 13 to 19 years old are in dangerous situations such as household poverty, abuse, neglect and delinquency, and school maladjustment deviant behavior. The shelter helps at-risk, runaway youth return to their families, as well as achieve self-reliance within society through temporary care, adolescent counseling, and educational services. This shelter won commendation as an exemplary organization from the ministry of health and welfare in 2008. The shelter endeavors to help the youth at risk by setting a stable base for self-reliance.

A guesthouse for Korean adoptees that finds solutions for overseas adoption matters.

Almost 200,000 Korean children have been adopted internationally since the 1950s. When overseas adoptees reach adulthood, many choose to return to South Korea, to learn more about the country of their birth and search for family members.
 
 KoRoot was established in 2003 to support these overseas adoptees with the challenges they face in navigating an unfamiliar country and seeking answers about their family background and identity. Their guesthouse provides a welcoming home for the ‘returnees’, as well as a range of assistance including family tracing, legal support, trauma counseling and cultural events.
 
 Their research institute focuses on raising awareness of the issues surrounding overseas adoption by publishing and translating key academic literature about adoption and child rights. Also they have organized conferences and seminars on birth mothers rights and adoptee’s identity and records.
 
 KoRoot also promote alternatives to international adoption including family strengthening policies and improvement of child care system in Korea. They collaborate with other organizations to lobby for the country’s law on adoption and child protection to meet international standards.

Combatting patriarchal mindsets while supporting victims of sexual exploitation.

Samvedna works to combat Commercial Sexual Exploitation (especially generational and community-based prostitution) and Human Trafficking. While working with the community, Samvedna focuses on two things: one is to work with victims for their rehabilitation and reintegration, and the other is working with potential victims, with a priority in prevention with the help of advocacy. Samvedna also concentrates on community development so that patriarchal mindsets can be challenged and changed. This organization also works towards creating an enabling environment for women and children to be able to say No to any kind of violence of exploitation.

Ratanak International is a Christian charity working to break the cycles of poverty, exploitation and abuse in Cambodia for over 30 years. 
 
 
 
 Each year in Cambodia, thousands are trafficked and exploited. Young Cambodian women are lured by the lies of traffickers into forced marriages, sexual exploitation and domestic slavery overseas. Young Cambodian men looking to provide for their families are recruited into modern-day slavery mainly in the fishing and construction industries. 
 
 
 
 Survivors who escape come home traumatized and broken. But they are not alone. We operate programs to protect vulnerable Cambodians, specializing in the restoration of human trafficking survivors. 
 
 
 
 Our award-winning Ratanak Achievement Program (RAP) assists women who are survivors of sexual exploitation, forced labour and human trafficking. With your help, we can provide safe transitional housing and long-term support as our clients reintegrate into their home communities. Mann Deshi Foundation was founded by Chetna Gala Sinha in Mhaswad, Maharashtra in 1996 to support poor rural women have more control over their lives. Mann Deshi’s vision is to empower women to make their own choices and to be celebrated as equal and valuable members of their families and communities. Our mission is to empower women with the knowledge, skills, courage, access and capital to become successful entrepreneurs with more control over their lives. To date, the foundation has reached about 500,000 women and by 2024, we aim to reach one million women.

We run a Bank that provides women with affordable and easy access to credit and a Foundation that provides women with the knowledge, skills and support necessary to become successful entrepreneurs with more control over their lives and a chamber of commerce for providing legal, compliance, financial and marketing advisory.
 
 
 
 Set up in 1997, Mann Deshi Mahila Sahakari Bank is the first bank set up exclusively by and for rural women. Its over 100,000 clients predominantly include daily wage labourers, small and marginal farmers, vegetable and street vendors, shopkeepers, and numerous micro-entrepreneurs. It is dedicated to their financial inclusion and control.

 Most women in rural India, and especially in the areas that Mann Deshi Foundation works, face tremendous gender discrimination and opposition to participate in economic and social life. Our vision is to support women become more independent and we have chosen to focus on economic empowerment to expand women’s choices. It is well documented that economic empowerment expands women’s capacity to control money, feel more confident and have more decision making power about her own and her family’s life. However, women need a great deal of support and training to either start businesses or to expand their existing ones.
 
 
 
 Mann Deshi Foundation supports women’s economic empowerment by nurturing entrepreneurship. Our Foundation provides women the training, guidance and support to start and expand businesses and an ever expanding network of peers, role models and leaders. The Mann Deshi Bank provides essential capital and banking services necessary for entrepreneurship. It creates customised financial products for rural women.

Bareebo: Tuk, Aha, Sahmahtuhpeeup stands for Enough: Water, Food, Ability. Bareebo uses water as a liquid foundation for social, community and personal development in Cambodia, working with low income families with an average annual household income of US$600 in rural Banan district, Battambang province, northern Cambodia on addressing issues of water quality, supply or availability, food security, and local capacity to adapt to a changing climate and a modernizing economy. Bareebos projects include Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting, Shallow Pump Wells, Biological-Sand-Water-Filtration, Composting Latrines, Organic Home Gardening, Self-Help-Groups & Capacity Building, and Economic Development. Their vision is to develop a water and food systems model that ensures every rural Cambodian family has the ability to provide themselves with year-round access to healthy water for drinking and cooking and ample water for growing food.

The Issue
 
 
 
 We must recognize an important truth. Modern slavery is a part of our global economy. There are children working in garment factories that make the clothing we wear. There are women who harvest the vegetables we eat who are never paid for their labor, and who are sexually assaulted if they complain. There are young men, tricked into debt bondage, who are locked into construction sites at night. A staggering 40 million people are trapped in modern slavery, with 16 million of these victims directly related to the private sector. Current efforts of governments, the United Nations and NGOs help a meagre 0.2% of victims each year. Modern slavery is one of the most important moral issues of our time—and one that we have the power to change if we harness the will, resources and know-how to do so.

We focus on systemic change because we seek to permanently break the cycle of modern slavery.  Much of our work is comprised of technology-based tools with enormous potential for impact. Each of these tools solves a major problem in supply chain slavery—from auditors who do not speak the local dialect of factory workers, to under-utilized and disaggregated data, to falsified employment contracts. All of our tools are operational and have been piloted; resources are needed in order to take them to scale – both here in Asia and around the world.
 
 
 
 We also harness people-power, because we know that it is individual decisions that have the biggest impact on modern slavery. We build much-needed awareness, commitment and collaboration among the business community using our slavery committees for the Finance, Footwear and Apparel, Hospitality and Retail sectors.

Friends-International is a multi-award-winning NGO and social enterprise providing services to save lives and build futures for over 84,000 marginalized children, young people and caregivers in Southeast Asia each year. Founded in 1994, we have over 25 years’ experience providing protection and reintegration services for vulnerable urban children and families including: those living/working on the streets; sex workers and their dependents; illegal/unsafe migrants; drug users; and people living with HIV or other chronic illnesses.
 
 COVID-19 Response
 
 Right now, COVID-19 is having a devastating impact on the families we serve in Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos and Myanmar – without savings or safety nets to fall back on, they require immediate support to survive this crisis. We know there will be no quick fixes in addressing the massive socio-economic impacts of the pandemic, so we seek to support the sustainable, long-term recovery of children and families. Friends-Internationals approach combines the provision of emergency relief and protection services with sustainable support including education and school reintegration for out-of-school children, and building skills through market-aligned vocational training to enhance employability and placement in safe, decent jobs for caregivers and young people who have lost their jobs.

The Life Skills Development Foundation (TLSDF) is a registered Thai non-profit and non-governmental organization that aims to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and their families in upper northern Thailand.  TLSDF currently operates 5 key projects in 5 districts of 3 provinces in Upper northern Thailand; Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Maehongson. Currently TLSDF’s program covers 18,847 families; around 58,142 family members in 7 sub-districts, among the population 41,668 of them are ethnic, indigenous and migrant people. Estimated 37,694 of them are children.
 
 
 
 COVID-19 Response
 
 
 
 At TLSDF, we are revising some of our planned activities from different projects to address the needs of the most deprived and marginalized, non-Thai citizens who live and learn in Thailand. The revised activities not only to help them to protect themselves from COVID-19, but also for some of them, we aim to help them to survive from jobs lost due lockdown and shelter in place situation. Some reponse efforts:
 
 
 
   Design child-friendly information campaign through posters, leaflets, sign post, and flyer with guided actions for COVID-19 prevention and control in 7-8 ethnic languages particularly in Shan language; the majority group of migrant in upper northern Thailand. The information, communication and education media will also provide a helpline number, contactable resource agencies. These will be distributed to at least 18,000 families including 36,000 children.
 
   Distribute hygiene supplies as the virus protective gears such as soap bars, alcohol-based hand rub or chlorine solution, face mask and/or face shield, disinfectants, wet tissue paper, and non-human touch fever measure instrument.
 
 
 
 TLSDF and its community-driven child protection networks are ready to distribute these supplies and learning kits to all under budgeting households under our program impact areas in Upper Northern Thailand.

The Life Skills Development Foundation

An organization supporting migrant childrens access to critical services and support.

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a Thai-registered Foundation with a mission to provide access to education, health and safety services for vulnerable children living in urban slums and construction site camps in Thailand. These children are often left unattended in these severely hazardous living environments while their parents are at work on construction sites. They experience limited access to essential services and their fundamental rights, and are at high risk of neglect, abuse and exploitation.
 
 
 
 BDF maintains and builds upon an extensive network of multi-sector partnerships that contribute to its operations. BDF forms innovative MOU partnerships with Thai real estate and construction companies (key private sector stakeholders) to reach large numbers of vulnerable families in need and establishes relationships with public services to support these families (ex. public schools, health centers, shelters, and the Ministries of Health and Education). Today, the Foundation supports over 1,500 vulnerable children in Thailand every year through complementary programs that provide sustainable support and life-saving access to education, health, and safety. BDF achieves systemic impact in the Thai construction sector by working with major property and construction companies to improve living conditions for labor migrants and their families.

The Community Learning Center - Center of Buddha Dhamma Practice and International Charity or the Community Learning Center for Development of Humanity (CLC) is a non-formal community learning center which provides vocational training courses and job placements for nursing and engineering under-privileged and needy youth who are at risk of drugs and human trafficking. CLC has been successful in helping orphans, poor and disadvantaged youth and children from human trafficking while providing quality education that opens their minds to morality and discipline. CLC also assists its students in finding proper and honorable employment. It also provides scholarships, trains children and youth to be good citizens in society, promotes Thai culture and tradition, and teaches meditation.

Kota Kita (KK) is a non-profit organization based in Indonesia with expertise in urban planning and citizen participation in the design and development of cities. We build bridges between citizens and government towards a shared vision. We facilitate citizen participation and collaboration, influence urban policies, encourage open access to information, and provide civic education to empower active urban citizens. We take on issues such as governance, inclusivity and climate change resilience. We have an interdisciplinary team with a design-driven approach to develop tools and methods for city-making.
 
 
 
 For almost a decade, Kota Kita has worked in more than 20 cities in Indonesia on a diverse range of projects from small scale urban interventions, city-wide assessments to large-scale strategic planning and visioning. We build platforms for new voices for change in our cities by organizing events such as the annual Urban Social Forum ( https://urbansocialforum.or.id/ ) - a civil society-led forum in Indonesia that brings together civil societies, civil servants, practitioners and students that work towards improving our cities. Kota Kita is a part of IDRC’s Think Climate Platform and has a consultative status at the UN ECOSOC.

 The full participation of everyone, including almost 22 million persons with disabilities in Indonesia, is necessary for the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its promise of peace and prosperity for all. Yet, persons with disabilities continue to experience exclusion through negative attitudes, stigma, discrimination and lack of accessibility and mobility in physical environments.
 
 
 
 Data is the most powerful tool in the hands of the policymakers trying to build disability inclusive environments, but the right type of data – timely, disaggregated and fit-for-purpose – is often a scarce commodity. Without good data, policy experimentation can be ineffective.
 
 
 
 Kota Kita, in partnership with UNESCO, has conducted participatory data collection methodology. The initiative directly engaged the persons with disabilities living in Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan, Indonesia) through field surveys (supported with the use of technology and app-based survey tools), interviews, public consultations, and data analysis and mapping, leading to the joint production of a comprehensive disability profile of the city- showing the degree of inclusion and exclusion, also the opportunities for further intervention.
 
 
 
 The data has been really helpful to catalyze ongoing collaborations between city government, DPOs, CSOs, academic institutions, and private sector to work on a disability-inclusive agenda. However, we need more support from allies from around the world to get involved in this pilot project, as we are working to promote positive stigma, policy change, also increasing safety and mobility for persons with disabilities, and building inclusive infrastructures.

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights is a non-aligned, independent human rights NGO that works to promote and protect democracy and respect for human rights throughout Cambodia. CCHRs vision is of a non-violent Cambodia in which people enjoy fundamental human rights, are treated equally, are empowered to participate in democracy, and share the benefits of Cambodia’s development. CCHR is an organization that empowers Cambodian people, communities and organizations to claim their rights; raises awareness of human rights abuses in Cambodia and deters human rights abusers; exposes human rights infringements through monitoring reports, social media, and online resources, campaigns for necessary changes within political, judicial, and commercial systems so that all Cambodians can enjoy their human rights. CCHR focuses on a range of human rights issues affecting Cambodian people on a daily basis such as Fundamental Freedoms, Rule of Law and Judicial Reform, Equality and Discrimination, Business and Human Rights and Political Rights and Participation. CCHR makes a genuine difference for Cambodian people and society, through these recent efforts: Submissions to Cambodia’s 3rd Cycle Universal Periodic Review at the UN; Advocating for release of human rights defenders; Provision of free legal support and financial support to their families of human rights defenders, Systematic monitoring of compliance with fair trial rights at the Court of Appeals, trainings and radio talk shows.

Social Health Growth (SHG) was established in 2012 with a focus on single mothers and their underprivileged children. In line with the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all, SHG also aims to achieve a better future for our beneficiaries.
 
 
 
 SDG 1: Financial Literacy Program, Computer and Mobile Literacy Program, Savings Program, Diapers and Milk Powder Distribution Program
 
 
 
 While Singapore may not have a poverty line, income disparity remains a worrying issue as the gap continues to widen, leaving many of our beneficiaries barely being able to afford their needs and yet not eligible for social assistance.
 
 
 
 Through the provision of financial literacy, computer and mobile literacy classes, beneficiaries would be able to understand long term financial planning while also working on self-improvement to attain better paying jobs. Children are also involved in the savings Program to get them started on the habit of saving. SHG also provides baby necessities to alleviate their cost of living.
 
 
 
 SDG 2: Food Distribution Program
 
 
 
 Through our provision of food ration including vouchers to purchase fresh vegetables, we hope to encourage mindful eating habits while eliminating hunger within households. Most households tend to give up healthy foods in place of filling meals that may not be as nutritious. Children growing up in such environments tend to lack nutrition necessary for cognitive development that impairs their overall well-being including low energy that impacts learning.
 
 
 
 SDG 3: Health Talk and Health Dance Program
 
 
 
 In line with UNs goal to reduce premature mortality, SHG conducts health talks and weekly health dance sessions for the mothers to be actively engaged. SHG also aims to raise awareness amongst the beneficiaries, while hoping for them to be health ambassadors in future.
 
 
 
 SDG 4: Children Enrichment Program
 
 
 
 Being mindful of the children’s developmental needs, SHG hires tutors to support the educational needs of the children. The Children Enrichment Program is currently held online for children aged 4 and above to help them garner interest in learning and to be academically on par with their classmates.

 Upon realization that there was no specific charitable organization catering to the needs of the single, unwed mothers and their children, SHG was set up with the intent of making it possible for these beneficiaries that have been overlooked by society, to be empowered and independent women capable of providing for themselves and their childrens needs.

 SHG promotes job creation and entrepreneurship within our beneficiaries by giving them sewing projects that are sold through the sponsors personal channels. These projects provide our beneficiaries with opportunities to learn a new trade without interfering with their caregiving duties.

A shelter for teenage sexual exploitation survivors in Taiwan.

The Garden of Hope set up its first halfway house for teenage sexual exploitation survivors in Taipei in 1988. Today, the Foundation has 17 shelters in 12 cities and counties of Taiwan. The shelters house domestic violence survivors and their children, teenage survivors of domestic and sexual violence, teenage pregnancy cases, and female migrant workers who are survivors of labor exploitation, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The Garden of Hope offers crisis, post-crisis and capacity-building services, helping survivors not only recover from the trauma of violence but eliminate the threat of violence in their lives for good. In addition, the Garden of Hope offers prevention programs, telephone counseling and online interventions for pregnant teenage girls and young parents. The programs help the young women to understand their rights, improve their self-esteem and be responsible and functional parents. The Garden of Hope is also the secretariat for the Asian Network of Women’s Shelters, a peak body for shelters and other organizations working to end violence against women in the region. The network reaches some 20 countries and has links with shelter organizations serving diaspora in North America and Europe.

Stopping poverty and economical exploitation among tribal groups

Since their experience in the past 11 years on tribal development program, Tribe girls and women are facing sex abuse, rape, murder, bondage, caste abuse, economical exploitation and working place violence. As Tribe people are very bottom level of Indian caste system along with caste slavery and caste bondage, multiple oppressions on tribe women and girls are fallen from upper caste male and female. At domestic level she faces violence as child marriage, family burden, affecting of superstition and Migration are making further oppression and tragedy life.
 
 ROSI FOUNDATION provides training to girls and women on women issue and legal action. It takes issue when a girl or woman is affected from abuse, exploitation, rape and other gender based violence. It provides rehabilitation of victims that temporary shelter, food, medicine and cloth. It motivates all school going tribe girls on RCH and abuses. Tribe SHGs/forest groups are strengthened. Counseling is provided to all 15000 tribe women by home to home visit of counselors.
 
 ROSI runs skill training in livelihoods that MFP (minor forest produces) is available into forest and Tribal people are collecting and selling to middlemen. So meager amount is given to tribal people, who are exploited in the matter. Poverty, deprivation and exploitation are being continued among tribal people. ROSI is providing business equipment and other input for their self business after training. They are processing MFP and selling in the market for 10 times prices of raw/unprocessed materials rate. It is removing them from exploitation and poverty.

International Nepal Fellowship is a Christian organization serving the physical and spiritual needs of Nepali people. The vision of INF is to see ‘Life in all its fullness for Nepal’s poor and disadvantaged people and communities’.
 
 Established in 1952, INF is Nepal’s longest-serving international non-government organization. INF helps people affected by leprosy, spinal cord injuries, and disability facilitates development in some of Nepal’s most remote and poorest communities, runs medical outreach programmes and provides medical training as well as supporting and providing assistance for Nepali migrants traveling to India and beyond in search of employment.

Shishu Mandir is an organization for giving poor, neglected and traumatized children a base for a life in dignity. To achieve this, a home with a family-like atmosphere, a school with small entities of class formations and a vocational training center for school drop-outs were created. The main aspect of bringing up these youths lies on liberating them from the various social stigmas, by treating them with respect, warmth, and understanding. Shishu Mandir believes in an all-round education which aims at bringing every child to a sound self-esteem that can carry them through a life in dignity.

The elderly population in Taiwan has reached 14% in 2018. Hondao Senior Citizens Welfare Foundation was established in 1995 with the spirit of Collaboratively Caring for Our Elderly. In addition to the headquarters in Taichung City, Hondao has five service offices and 33 volunteer stations in North, Central, and South Taiwan. Through all the partners and local volunteers of the Foundation, Hondao reaches out and cares for thousands of senior citizens who live alone. Senior Broadway Show is a world-class show performed by amateur senior citizens, marking its seventh year in 2018. The show is expected to invite 14,000 viewers, and recruit 300 young volunteers, creating a top-class stage comparable to professional concerts to exhibit the charm of the passionate elderly performers! Elderly performers will practice and train for over six months in order to give the best performances on the stage. Through regular practices, the aging process is slowed down, and the elderly performers have also taken good care of their own health. For the community and the general public, this is also the driver that brings the society together and draws the society’s attention to the senior citizens. Hondao also increases intergenerational interaction through recruiting young volunteers and promoting intergenerational fusion. The Senior Broadway Show showcases the energy and unlimited potentials of senior citizens!

Marie Stopes International Australia: Children by Choice, Not Chance.

Marie Stopes International Australia is the support office for Marie Stopes in the Asia Pacific region. They support programs in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea, and other projects within the Marie Stopes International (MSI) network (37 countries). Women and girls in the countries where they work have high needs for sexual and reproductive health services. If sexual and reproductive health needs are not met, it can heavily impact gender equality and maternal mortality rates. 
 
 
 
 As of 31 December 2019, there are 32 million women using a method of contraception provided by MSI. That’s 32 million women who have been able to make choices about their own bodies and their own futures. To put this number into context, if these women stood side by side on the equator, they would form a human chain that would reach around the world. In 2019 alone, MSI provided 14 million people with contraception, safe abortion or post-abortion care services. The numbers show that they are meeting the family planning demand for one in five women in the countries that they work in. 
 
 
 
 Through contributions to Marie Stopes International Australia’s Blue Door Fund, it will be possible for the women and girls who need them most to access family planning education and counselling, contraception, and safe abortion services (where legal). The generous donation allows Marie Stopes to strategically expand their programs for even greater impact and ensures that they can continue to provide essential services for their clients. MSIA believes when a woman has the right to choose, she can determine her own future. Build decent, simple, and affordable housing for low income families

Yayasan Habitat Kemanusiaan Indonesia is part of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit organization that aims to help build or repair homes to become decent, simple, and affordable housing for low income families. 
 
 
 
 On August 5, a magnitude 7 earthquake struck Lombok, killing 515 people and severely damaging 85,000 homes. Thousands of families have been rendered homeless and many are displaced and staying in poor quality emergency shelters. Key water and sanitation infrastructures, including water distribution networks, have been destroyed and pose a serious public health hazard. In less than two months - September 28, 2018, the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia was hit by a powerful 7.5 earthquake, triggering 2-meter tsunami waves followed by aftershocks.
 
 
 
 More than 1900 perished from the deadly earthquake and waves that destroyed 65,000 homes leaving thousands displaced. Search and rescue workers and response teams continue to work round the clock to reach hard-hit communities in Palu, Dongala, Pariti Mougong, Sigi and nearby areas.
 
 Habitat Indonesia has a three-phase plan to support thousands of families in their transition from relief to recovery and reconstruction, which could take three years or more. Habitat for Humanity is also looking into reconstruction of houses, water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and other community assets. Help raise $200,000 for this long-term plan -- any amount will go a long way in supporting the earthquake survivors.

Japan NPO Center was established in 1996 for the purpose of strengthening the infrastructure of nonprofit organizations in Japan. JNPOC aims to support civic activities of Japanese civil society and the growth of its nonprofit sector. JNPOC also aims to establish effective partnerships between the nonprofit sector and the government as well as private sector.
 
 
 
 Japan NPO Center (JNPOC) is engaged in collecting and disseminating informational materials in regards to NPOs as well as in supporting the ICT and public relations of NPOs. They are active in conducting forums, conferences, and training to encourage informational exchange, with particular emphasis on creating opportunities for inter‐sector collaboration. It is also active in collaborating and developing programs together with enterprises and corporate foundations. Furthermore, JNPOC has conducted research studies in the field of Japanese NPOs. By networking with various policy recommendation committees, JNPOC is actively and continuously involved in policy advocacy to ensure the proper development of the Japanese civil sector.
 
 
 
 Since 2011, JNPOC has been working to promote citizen‐led support for Disaster Relief for East Japan, including its own initiated Japan Earthquake Local NPO Support Fund and has established multiple disaster relief funds.

Educating & empowering adolescent girls living the slums ensuring gender equality

India is home to 253 million adolescents and almost 72% of this adolescent population resides in slums & villages. Largely the access of knowledge and information on adolescent reproductive & sexual health and gender education is non-existent in India. And particularly in urban slums and rural villages are worse where families living in vulnerable conditions with minimal resources.
 
 
 
 The primary beneficiaries of Sukaryas Gender Equality program are the adolescent girls (11-19 years) include those attending government schools and those not attending any schools and live in slums & hard-to-reach villages of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan.
 
 
 
 As per the 2011 Census , almost 10% of Indias total slum population (about 6.5 million) live in the urban slums of Delhi, Rajasthan & Haryana which are characterized by acute poverty, over-crowding, unhealthy living conditions, and a weak or no urban public health setup. During pandemic like Covid-19 or any other epidemics, the prevention, control and preparedness would be the most fundamental task. Since Sukarya works in the area of basic health care services, it understands the enormous needs and severity of the issues in a better frame.
 
 
 
 Therefore, Sukarya will include measures like WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), social distancing, use of Apps for social intervention, and effective community engagement for ensuring prevention from pandemics in its program curriculum. It will also upscale and empower 5000 adolescent girls who will not only bring the desired changes to strengthening the community and society but also will act as frontline volunteers to ensure better health.
 
 
 
 The objectives of Sukarya’s Gender Equality Program are to:
 
 
 
   Provide the basic knowledge and awareness to adolescent girls (10-19 years age group) on reproductive and sexual health AND build their knowledge & skills on family life aspects.
 
   Educate, build their knowledge and understanding about gender discrimination, social stigma, issues and challenges.
 
   Learn the impact of WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) for maintaining good health at the community level, community engagement and communication.
 
 
 
 Long-Term Impact of this program
 
 These adolescent girls would be trained to be the peers to other adolescents living in their communities. They will be able to have a healthier life and would be well informed about health needs and rights, social stigma and gender equality aspects. Overall health and gender empowerment would ensure creating a healthy society. It will not only change the trajectory of the adolescent girls’ future, but that of their communities as well.
